Active Me is the social, adaptive sports and outdoor activities programme for patients in the National Rehabilitation Hospital.
Fully inclusive and accessible, Active Me is a great opportunity to have some fun while enjoying new experiences and discovering new possibilities. Some of our activities include:
Social Day Time Trips
Social trips are a great way to have some fun, get to know other patients, practice your mobility skills and simply relax. We provide social trips that are scheduled specifically around your therapy and medical appointment times during your stay in the NRH.
We have a fully adapted bus for wheelchair users which can accommodate both manual and powered wheelchairs, as well as bus seats for people who would like to transfer. We also have volunteers who can provide support if required.
We can also organise trips to the hairdresser, bank or other errands on our adapted bus if arranged in advance.
Test your skills with indoor soft pellet target shooting, every Thursday evening (6.30pm to 7.30pm) in the sports hall in the NRH. We can provide support equipment to aid in shooting.
Take in the scenery with a trip around Dun Laoghaire marina and out to Dalkey Island on our purposely adapted RIB. We have a variety of systems to make transferring onto the boat easier, including a hoist. We also provide you with all safety equipment and all weather clothing to keep you dry and warm.
