Our ‘Future Me’ Programme is especially for people who want to start thinking about their options for education, training and employment.
At the National Rehabilitation Hospital
While you are in the NRH, you may choose to work with the Vocational Rehabilitation Team to look at your options for returning to employment. This team includes the NRH Vocational Occupational Therapist, the NRH Medical Social Worker and a Spinal Injuries Ireland Support Officer.
With your consent, the team will work with you to look at your employment, education and training options. A vocational assessment is carried out by the Occupational Therapist and a collaborative vocational plan is drawn up. To further support you in achieving your goals, any challenges regarding employers or education and training are addressed together.
When you return home, your SII Community Outreach Officer will work with you to continue working towards the goals you set at the NRH.
If you did not participate in the vocational programme while you were in the NRH or you underwent rehabilitation in a different hospital, a Spinal Injuries Ireland Community Outreach Officer will work with you to develop a vocational plan and support you in working towards your goals.
