Barbecue Raises Over €26,000 for Spinal Injuries Ireland
On Saturday, 30th August, over 150 guests gathered at Old Belvedere Rugby Club to celebrate the end of summer and raise funds for Spinal Injuries Ireland (SII). The lively barbecue generated an impressive €26,000+, all in support of the charity’s essential services.
SII is Ireland’s only dedicated support and service agency for people living with life-changing spinal cord injuries. With an annual fundraising goal of nearly €1 million, events like these play a crucial role in maintaining their operations.
The evening was organised by Geraldine Dargan and Marie Fitzpatrick, both of whom received heartfelt thanks from SII CEO Fiona Bolger for their commitment and hard work.
A highlight of the night was a moving talk by artist Susan Farrelly, who shared her personal journey of living with a spinal cord injury. Several of Susan’s beautiful paintings were auctioned on the night, along with a private in-home dinner by gourmet chef Tracy Rennie.
Among the many attendees were Noelle McCarthy (Blow Salons), Kate Coleman, Breda Clifford, Jeanette Taylor, Clodagh Blake, Karen Doran, and Suzanne Monaghan. The festivities continued into the early hours with a lively disco by Doug Murray, marking a stylish and meaningful end to the summer season.
