Spinal Injuries Ireland and the IRFU Charitable Trust are co-hosting an accessible cycling challenge in the Algarve from May 14th to 20th 2023.

  • 5 days cycling, a different route each day
  • a choice of 2 routes of varying distances available each day to cater for all levels of  experience and ability (over 100 Kms per day for advanced cyclists).
  • support van with spare parts, nutrition and collection option available each day.
  • both able bodied and disabled cyclists welcome.

Fundraising:  €4,000 (€300 non-refundable deposit plus €3,700 additional fundraising)

A reduced cost of €2,000 will be made available to partners of participants. Partners will not take part in the cycling and are free to explore Quinta and/or enjoy the hotel on a daily basis.

What’s included:

  • Return flights Dublin to Faro
  • Transfers to and from airport and group activities.
  • 6 nights shared accommodation * and half board (buffet breakfast and sit-down dinner) at the 5 star Wyndham Grand Algarve
  • 5 days cycling including ** bike hire, guided routes, support van, rest day group activities (see provisional itinerary)
  • Farewell meal on the last night in Bovino Steakhouse

*single rooms are available with a single supplement of €300

** specially adapted bikes and hand bikes will need to be supplied by the participant

(15.30 Meet at Wyndham Grand Algarve for anyone already based in Algarve / not travelling from Ireland)

17.00 Short, gentle cycle around the vicinity

20.00   Dinner at Wyndham Grand Algarve

Tuesday and Wednesday

07.30   Breakfast Opens

09.30   2 Cycle Departure (Novice & hand cyclists, and advanced)

12.30   Lunch

14.30   Return to Wyndham Grand Algarve.  Free afternoon.

20.00   Dinner at an external restaurant (location TBC)

Thursday

14.30   Return to Wyndham Grand Algarve.

16.00 Departure to local winery.

16.30   Tour of the vineyard (fully accessible), followed by a meal in the winery

19:30   Return to Wyndham Grand Algarve.
