Why Use An Art Journal?
My name is Susan Farrelly. I am an artist. I have kept an art journal since 1987. I am in the habit of doing a little bit every day, no pressure – just fun.
In the Spinal Art programme we will use our journals as a handy space to keep the artwork we produce in one place and develop our individual artistic expressions.
Diaries can be the most intimate objects people possess. They contain all the elements that make up the human experience, without holding back in any way since they are meant only for the eyes of the author. Each person has their own unique approach to keeping a diary and tracking the experiences of their daily lives and the development of their personal processes. And when artists make diaries, they tend to be filled not only with intimate personal thoughts and fascinating details of their artistic progress, but also with stunning little examples of their art in the form of sketches and studies. In some cases, the diary is really an artwork in and of itself.
You can customise your journal to reflect your own personal creative journey and interests!
