Family members have their own specific concerns and information needs distinct from the Service User

The best support for family members of people with a Spinal Cord Injury comes from their peers.  From the time of injury our Family Peer Volunteers are on hand to help you come to terms with what has happened and to help you rebuild your life.

They are available to all family members of people with a Spinal Cord Injury from the time of injury for as long as they need it, allowing them to talk about the impact of the SCI with someone who understands and can direct them to other sources of help and information.

Our Family Peer Volunteers all receive mandatory training. They have varying injury levels, experiences and interests. Each peer has their own story and experience to share with you and is ready to listen to yours.

In the video below Frank Lawlor discusses the impact of a SCI on the whole family. His full story can be read HERE.
